Fiji delivers world class waves. You've got breaks like Nomotu, Restaurants, Cloudbreak, Tavarua Rights, Kiddieland, Swimming Pools, Namotu Left, Wilkes Pass, and Desperations. One of our favourite film releases this year, 'Welcome Elsewhere' by Craig Anderson, includes a tonne of footage captured here. Adding Fiji to your travel list is something you should do. If not for the waves alone, but also for the downtime, the surrounding islands, the beaches and that clear water that beams teal.
Our thoughts? Clouldbreak for waves, Vomo Island for everything else. We'd like to preface this by saying that a trip to Vomo is very different from say... places like Kommune and the like. We like those spots for ease, affordability and a typical surf trip kind of setting. However, staying on this particular island kind of represents that whole 'treat yo-self' reference. There is more downtime involved and its one you'd bring you significant other or family along to. It's high-end island living at its best and for very good reason. You do very little thinking on at Vomo because the staff and crew there do most of that for you. In fact, they're always within arms reach at all times. You arrive by chopper direct from the mainland, eat and drink copious amounts (5 star), sit in the sun, swim and you can take a 45 minute boat ride and be hand delivered to Cloudbreak, Tavarua, nearby.

Unlike some of the big chain resorts out there, those with perfect landscape symmetry and gardens that are pruned and groomed by the millimetre, Vomo maintains the islands more rugged and raw state which makes it an even cooler experience.

Add Vomo to your list. It's worth every minute you're there.
